The theme of the Telugu movie is based on rebirth or reincarnation, revenge, love and related things in life, past or present. The story of the film dates back to 16th century in which Kalabharaiva (Ram Charan Teja), a warrior general and queen Mitra (Kajal Aggarwal) are in love. The villain Randev (Devgill), one of Mitra’s relatives, lusts for her and with his evil plans he separates the lovers. Unexpectedly, the lover dies and the historic part ends there. The story re-starts in the present times with Harsha (Ram Charan Teja), an avid biker leading a happy life. Harsha meets Indu (Kajal) and he feels there is some link between them. Again, Randev, reborn as Indu’s relative, tries to worsen the situation.

Magadheera (2009) is the mega hit Telugu movie starring Ram Charan Teja (as Kala Bhairava and Harsha), Kajal Aggarwal (as Yuvarani Mitravinda and Indu), Srihari (as Sher Khan and Solomon), Dev Gill (as Senadhipathi Randheer Billa and Raghuveer), Sarath Babu (as King of Udaighad), Brahmanandam (Special Appearance), Sunil (as a friend of Harsha), Rao Ramesh (as Aghora), Saloni Aswani (as Srihari's girl friend), Surya (as Indu's father), Sameer (as Man Singh), Hema (as Brahmanandam’s wife) and Chiranjeevi in a guest appearance.
Crew of the film includes Vijayendra Prasad (story), M. Ratnam (dialogues), Keeravani (music), Kalyani Malik (sound design), Senthil Kumar (cinematography), Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao (editing), Ravinder (art direction), Ram-Lakshman and Peter Haines (fights), Chandrabose, Bhuvanachandra, M.M. Keeravani (lyrics). The Magadheera is directed by S S Rajamouli and produced by Allu Aravind under the banner of Geeta Arts with a budget of Rs 40 crores. Director Raja Mouli has now decided to introduce a Tamil version. As per reports, producer Allu Aravind of Geetha Arts and Raja Mouli have dubbed the film in Tamil and they plan to release the Tamil version in September 2009.
