She is known best as hostess/judge of the reality television show America's Next Top Model since its 2003 debut, and is currently hosting her own Daytime Emmy Award-nominated talk show, The Tyra Banks Show. Banks is one of four African Americans and seven women to have repeatedly ranked among the world's most influential people by Time magazine.

Within Banks' first week in Paris, other designers were so entranced by her presence on the runway that she was booked for an unprecedented 25 shows; a record in the business for a newcomer. She has done extensive print and/or runway work for fashion/advertising giants such as Anna Sui, Coors Light, CoverGirl, Badgley Mischka, Bill Blass, Cynthia Rowley, Chanel, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Gemma Kahng, H&M, Isaac Mizrahi, Maria Snyder, McDonald's, Aislinn Dubois Modeling Agency Michael Kors, Milk, Nicole Miller, Nike, Inc., Oscar de la Renta, Pepsi, Perry Ellis, Randy Kemper, Richard Tyler, Rifat Ozbek, Swatch, Todd Oldham, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria's Secret, and Yves Saint Laurent. Banks was the first African American woman on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In 1997, she received the VH1 Award for Supermodel of the Year. Also in '97, she was chosen for the cover of the Victoria's Secret catalog, making her the first African American to be so honored.

Banks retired from modeling in May 2005 to concentrate on her television show. She walked the runway for the final time at the 2005 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. On numerous occasions, she has been sought after to appear in Playboy magazine; however, she has turned each request down.

In recent years, Tyra Banks found herself mired in controversy with ads for her show being banned from buses across Santa Monica after members of the public complained. The cause for controversy seemed to be Banks posing in front of a waterfall in a swimsuit for America's Next Top Model, Cycle 8. Most of the complaints were from people who were concerned that the city might be endorsing a show that might be disrespectful to women, reports ananova.com. Stephanie Negriff, director of the transit services, said: 'It's a matter of public taste, we try to be sensitive to the community. We wouldn't want to do anything that would disrespect women.' This event was widely publicized in media such as IANS, India News, as well as others.
Banks' television career began on the fourth season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in which she played lead character Will's old friend Jackie Ames, and made seven appearances throughout the series. Other screen credits include Felicity, MADtv, Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out (in which she was featured as special guest host and team captain), Coyote Ugly and The Price Is Right (guest-starring as a Barker's Beauty). She also appeared as a guest in the animated talk show Space Ghost Coast to Coast in an episode titled "Chinatown."

Currently, Banks can be seen on television as the hostess, Arm judge, and executive producer of the CW television show America's Next Top Model. In addition, she hosts The Tyra Banks Show, a daytime talkshow aimed at younger women, which premiered on September 12, 2005 and recently began its third season, drawing over 1.9 million viewers an episode.[citation needed] The show features stories about everyday people mixed in with celebrity interviews, much like the early format of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Under the slogan "Every woman has a story...and it happened to Tyra too.", Banks promotes her show using emotional flashbacks to her own childhood and adolescence. Many of the episodes deal with issues facing women today. The first two seasons of the show were recorded in Banks' hometown of Los Angeles, but beginning with the fall 2007 season, the show moved to New York City.

In late January 2008, Banks got the go ahead from ANTM network, CW, to start work on a new reality television series based on fashion magazines.

Her first big screen role came in 1994 when she co-starred in the drama Higher Learning. She went on to co-star with Lindsay Lohan in the Disney film Life-Size, playing a doll named Eve who comes to life and has to learn how to live in the real world. Other notable roles include 1999's Love Stinks, 2000's Coyote Ugly, and 2002's Halloween: Resurrection.

Brother of 'Harry Potter' Actress Jailed for 6 Months

The brother of "Harry Potter" star Afshan Azad has been jailed for six months after pleading guilty to assaulting the actress last year. Azad, who played witch Padma Patil in four of the boy wizard movies, alleged her father Abdul and brother Ashraf had attacked her at her home in Manchester, England last May.

The relatives were said to have argued with the Muslim star, 22, after
overhearing her talking on the phone to her Hindu boyfriend. The altercation reportedly escalated and turned violent, with the pair threatening to kill the actress, after she refused their demands to end the relationship.

Death-threat charges against Azad's father and brother were later dropped by prosecutors following a desperate plea from the star, and they were both cleared at Manchester Crown Court, England in December.

Azad's father was bound to keep the peace for 12 months and her brother was banned from contacting his sister at her new home in London. However, Ashraf Azad admitted to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was ordered to serve jail time during sentencing on Friday, January 22.

investigate the incident. They later removed the dead deer and are planning to donate the meat to hungry families in the area, according to AllHipHop.com.

Beyonce claimed she only had two men in her love life and that she never had sex with the first guy. "Though I was too young for it to really be a boyfriend - we didn't live together, we didn't, you know ...," she said about her first boyfriend. "That was my only experience with a guy, and since then I've only had one other boyfriend in my life - Jay."

"People would be surprised as to the lack of experiences I've had," she also

Michael Jackson's Mother Challenges Promoters' Lawsuit Dismissal Request

Michael Jackson's mother has launched a legal battle with the King of Pop's concert promoters, insisting they ignored life-threatening activities that were going on behind closed doors at the star's rented mansion - and resulted in his death.

Katherine Jackson is suing executives at AEG, the company behind the "Thriller" hitmaker's doomed comeback shows in London, for fraud and negligence. The late pop superstar's physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has been ordered to stand trial on involuntary manslaughter charges, relating to the June 2009 tragedy - and the singer's mum feels sure promoters knew what he was doing.
Katherine is challenging AEG's motion to dismiss the wrongful death lawsuit against the company, according to TMZ.com. In her documents, she alleges AEG retained Dr. Murray for an "exorbitant salary of $150,000 monthly," and in return Murray agreed to "get Jackson to attend rehearsals and perform".

Her legal team claims, "AEG should have known that the course of treatment being administered by Dr. Murray was unorthodox and unsafe." Dr. Murray is accused of administering the dose of anaesthetic Propofol, which killed Jackson.

Mugler Short Movie Feat. Lady GaGa's 'Born This Way' Song Arrives

After teased in low-quality footage, Lady GaGa's new remixed song for Thierry Mugler's January 19 fashion show has finally debuted in a mini movie from the fashion house. The track reportedly is not the title track, but rather a random cut from her new album "Born This Way".

Fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco directed the movie, and he shot it before he got the music. "I'll be 100 percent honest with you: We didn't get the music until after the video," he told MTV. "Nicola [Formichetti, Mugler creative director and GaGa's stylist] hummed it to me and tried singing it to me. It was hilarious. And described it to me in a really articulate way."

"He said, 'It's techno meets Whitney Houston, in a really good way.' When he described that to me, I thought the best treatment to that would be to film it in slow motion 'cause I think house music with slow-moving images works," he continued. "I filmed a lot of scenes that were in my heart and in my mind."

The movie features skeleton-tattooed model Rick Genest and some shots from the Wednesday runway in black-and-white scenes. "She called Nicola, and she said she loved the video," Vivanco said of how GaGa reacted to the film he created for her music. "She's the queen of our times."

GaGa herself said she made the soundtrack specially for Mugler, not just for anyone because she admired his work. "I love him, my friend the genius, my collaborator, more more than any piece of clothing or closet I possess. But don't tell him I said that, he'll die. He picked them all out," she said in a statement.

As of late, Lady GaGa is currently preparing for her upcoming Grammy performance on February 13 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. She is expected to debut her first single live, and then set to follow it up with a music video premiere and an album release on May 23 in the United States.

Bieber, Jaden Smith, Usher, Muse, Lady Antebellum Added to Grammy Line-Up

The second batch of Grammy performers has been revealed by NARAS. Confirming previously-rumored musical guests B.o.B, Janelle Monae and Bruno Mars, they also name never-before-mentioned artists like Justin Bieber, Jaden Smith and Usher as additional musical acts.

The other newly-unveiled performers are Lady Antebellum and Muse. While the two bands are mostly likely to rock the Grammy stage in separate sets, Bieber,
Smith and Usher who once made a live collaboration in "Never Say Never", reportedly will share the stage together for a special performance. B.o.B, Monae and Mars are said to make a joint performance as well.

The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast on CBS at 8 P.M. ET/PT. Joining those newly-confirmed musical guests are Eminem, Miranda Lambert, Cee-Lo, Arcade Fire, Lady GaGa and Katy Perry. Now that the performers list has been crowded with A-list names, fans can expect the announcement of high profile presenters in the coming weeks.

Official Cover Art of Dr. Dre's 'I Need a Doctor' Ft. Eminem

Cover art of Dr. Dre's new single "I Need a Doctor" which features Eminem has been unleashed. Instead of boasting image of the two powerhouse rap artists, the artwork features a hospital board that shows where to go to "Aftermath Rehab Center" and "Detox Lab" among other "medical rooms."

Beside featuring the Slim Shady, "I Need a Doctor" also has Skylar Grey lending his vocal. It's produced by Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" mastermind Alex da Kid and will appear in Dre's next studio album "Detox" which will arrive later this year. The single itself will be released for
download on February 1.

"Detox" is a long-delayed album which will be Dre's first studio release since his 1999 effort "2001". He said, "One of the reasons it was taking so long is because I felt like I was doing it more out of obligation as opposed to really feeling it. As of last year, I've been really feeling where it's going and it feels good and I think I'm ready."

Britney Spears Hooks Up With Gucci Mane in 'Hit' Song

One of the artists who will collaborate with Britney Spears is revealed. According to Rumor Fix, the pop singer has signed Gucci Mane to rap in one of her new songs titled "Hit". They reportedly will meet next week in an Atlanta studio at Mizay Entertainment to record the duet.

"Britney's so icy," said the rapper who recently got an ice cream cone tattooed on the side of his face. "I'm going to make her go Brrr."
Gucci then proceeded to praise Britney, saying she's "raw and exciting. She's crazy. We like to get down like that."

Britney Spears is currently preparing her new album which is planned to come out in March but yet to be titled. She has rolled out her first single "Hold It Against Me" which instantly becomes a hit. It ruled iTunes charts in at least sixteen countries and got the most radio airplays on its release day.

Now, it's sitting at No. 1 on Hot 100 and broke record by selling more than 411,000 downloads in its first week. It's the largest debut for a woman as a lead artist. The record was previously held by Taylor Swift as her "Today Was a Fairytale" scanned 325,000 downloads.

A music video is currently being prepared with Jonas Akerlund reportedly serving as a director. According to choreographer Brian Friedman, it will be "a dance video" and they have done some rehearsals. Moreover, Britney will be "taking risks when it comes to the fashion."

George Clooney Recovered From Malaria He Contracted in Sudan

George Clooney's representative has confirmed the actor is completely recovered from a bout of malaria which he contracted during a recent trip to Sudan. The Oscar-winner revealed during an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan that he fell ill with the mosquito-borne disease earlier this month while filming an initiative to promote democracy in the country.

During the chat, to be aired in the U.S. on Friday, January 21, the star admitted it was the second time he has been struck down with malaria due to his frequent visits to the war-torn African nation as a leading advocate for refugees. Following the revelation on Morgan's show, speculation has been rife that Clooney is still
fighting to regain his health.

But his publicist insists the actor is 100 per cent well again, and has used the news to highlight the need for anti-malaria drugs to be accessible across Africa. The rep tells People.com, "George is completely over the Malaria he contracted while in the Sudan during the first week in January. This was his second bout with it. This illustrates how, with proper medication, the most lethal condition in Africa can be reduced to a bad 10 days instead of a death sentence."

Rihanna's Father Forgave Chris Brown After Brutal Attack

Rihanna's father admits he "feels sorry" for his daughter's ex-lover Chris Brown despite his brutal attack on the pop star two years ago. The "Umbrella" singer fell out with her father Ronald Fenty in 2009 after he spoke to the media on her behalf in the wake of her infamous fight with her then-boyfriend.

Fenty, who reconciled with Rihanna over the Christmas period, has now risked his daughter's wrath again by admitting he is sympathetic towards the "Kiss Kiss" singer - because a "stupid mistake" has had a negative effect on his career. He tells Britain's The Sun, "It was really tough seeing the pictures of her beaten up."
"But I have forgiven him. He has lost so much from one stupid mistake. So me making him feel even worse makes no sense. I feel sorry for him now."

Howard Mann Labels Michael Jackson's Estate 'Fraudulently Obtained Dictatorship'

Katherine Jackson's business partner Howard Mann has criticized the administrators of Michael Jackson's estate after they filed suit over allegations he is cashing in on the late superstar's image without proper permission. Estate bosses are suing Mann, claiming he has made millions from Jackson's music, photos and drawings illegally.

According to court papers, they believe Mann hauled in more than $1.5 million from Katherine Jackson's coffee table book, "Never Can Say Goodbye", in its first two days on sale - and they want to recoup all the revenues, as well as damages.
Mann is furious the lawyers behind the estate are chasing him to garner more profits, and has labeled them a "fraudulently obtained dictatorship" in a rant to TMZ.com.

He adds, "These lawyers have absolutely no interest in the preservation of Michael Jackson's legacy and less interest in generating revenues for his beneficiaries. The Estate will fall as a result of these draconian tactics and it is my hope that Miss Jackson regains control of that which was stolen from her."

Jackson's estate is managed by executors John Branca and John McClain.

Professor X and Magneto Use Their Power in New 'X-Men: First Class' Photos

Director Matthew Vaughn has shared more pictures from "X-Men: First Class" after he was made frustrated by a leaked cast picture a few days ago. One image shows James McAvoy's Charles Xavier getting his telepathy. The other one sees Michael Fassbender's Erik Lensherr in costume plus his helmet stretching his hand as if to unleash his power.
Speaking about X-Men uniform, Vaughn tells Slash Film, "The costumes are blue and yellow as well, because f**k it, lets take it back it the original. Also, by the way, those costumes are hardly in the movie. The main costumes are like these cool 60's James Bond..." He also promises the movie will not ruin the original work, saying "I'm a fan of X-Men. We're not bastardizing X-Men, I'm trying to get them back to being whole again."

"Imagine the Cuban Missile crisis and discovering that mutants exist, both at the same time," he dishes on the story. As for some people who get an impression that "First Class" looks like "Fantastic Four", he's got this to say, "It's ['X-Men: First Class'] definitely more serious and more realistic, and I think that's something that had to happen."

Matthew Vaughn is currently editing the movie in London. The film, which will chart the epic beginning of the "X-Men" saga, is set to open in U.S. cinemas on June 3. There is no word on when the first trailer will arrive.

New 'Bel Ami' Photo Shows Robert Pattinson With Different Hairstyle

A new picture from Robert Pattinson's "Bel Ami" has come out to tease fans while a release date for the film has not been determined yet. The photo features the British actor alone, sitting in front of a table and wearing a vintage outfit.

While there is nothing special with the scene captured in the image, it can be seen that Pattinson's character has a different hairstyle from the one seen in
other stills. If he was previously seen having a neat hairstyle with center parting, this time his hair is less sleek and having right parting.

"Bel Ami" is based on Guy de Maupassant's novel with the same title. Pattinson's character, Georges Duroy, is a man who rises to the top by manipulating a series of powerful and wealthy mistresses. Uma Thurman will play Madeleine Forestier who is extremely involved and connected in the goings-on of Parisian society before later becomes Duroy's wife.

Also cast in the film are Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas. Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod team up to direct the movie, which was shot in England and Budapest, Hungary.
